The patient search is at the top centre of Dentally. It allows you to search for patients in a number of ways.

search for patient dentally

You can search for a patient by:

  • Entering their name e.g.Jane Smith - you can enter this either surname or the first name first, the search will match whatever you type

  • Entering their mobile phone number e.g. 0709….

  • Entering their date of birth e.g. 22/04/1980  Please note that you must use this format when searching dates of birth. Any other format will not work, for example: ‘22nd April 1980’

  • By their preferred name and it is now visible from the appointment book so you can easily identify patients. A new merge field [patient_preferred_name] also allows you to address your communications to patients by their preferred name (if used and a patient doesn't have a preferred name it will use their first name).

Find an Archived patient

If you need to search for an archived patient you add an asterisk  ‘*’ before the search criteria you use.

  • For example, to search for archived patient John Smith archived you would type *John Smith
