In Dentally AU, some ADA codes refer to 1 or more surfaces, so when the dentist charts an X-surface treatment. The expectation is that the dentist selects the same number of surfaces on the chart.

However, in Dentally, dentists can choose a treatment code for X number of surfaces but then select a different number of actual surfaces on the chart. We have improved this so that when the dentist opts in to multi-surface updating, the treatment items will update according to the number of surfaces selected on the chart.

The same applies to anterior and posterior treatment items.

Enabling/disabling multi-surface charting

To opt in to multi-surface updating, go to a patient's chart and select the chart options down arrow and select 'Enable multi-surface updating.'

Select 'Yes' on the error message below.

Multi-surface updating has now been enabled.

To disable multi-surface updating, simply select 'Disable multi-surface updating.'

How multi-surface updating works

Select the multi-surface treatment that you want to chart. Then select the number of surfaces. If the number of surfaces differs from the treatment item selected, then the treatment item number will automatically update.

In the example below, The user selected 542 - Metallic Indirect 2 Surfaces. However, when they charted, they selected three surfaces, so the treatment item automatically changed to 543 - Metallic Indirect 3 Surfaces.

The same process will apply to anterior and posterior surfaces.
