Creating an insurance plan for Canadian Dentally users 🇨🇦

To set up an insurance plan within Dentally, follow the simple steps outlined below.

📝 Please note: In order for your reception team to add in insurance plans, they will need to be a Level 4 user in Dentally.

Click on 'Settings' and navigate to 'Insurance' and then click into the second tab which is titled ‘Insurance Plans’.

In this section, you can add new plans or update any existing plans using the edit button highlighted below should changes or corrections need to be made.

💡 Top tip: A ‘Group Number’ may be used for multiple plans for the same employer; we recommend using the ‘Plan Identifier’ to help differentiate them.

Creating a new insurance plan 🇨🇦

  • To create a new plan click ‘+New plan

  • You MUST first Click into the Insurance Carrier drop-down box and start typing your carrier name, or scroll to select the correct carrier name from the drop-down list.

  • Fill in the Group number, Employer, Division number from the patient's information.

  • Next, fill in the Plan identifier.

📝 Please note: This is purely for use in practice when looking to differentiate between different plans that have the same employer and group number but different coverage details.

You then need to complete the Plan Coverage information – you can enter the patient coverage into three categories:

  1. Basic

  2. Major

  3. Ortho

Detailed coverages and Exceptions, which can be seen at the bottom of the 'New plan' screen, can be set up at a later date if required.

Duplicating an insurance plan 🇨🇦

If you need to create a plan with similar settings to one that already exists in your Dentally Insrance plans you can instead choose to duplicate a plan.

To do this all you need to do is...

  • Edit the existing insurance plan.

  • Then click the 'Duplicate' button in the top right corner.

  • Update the details as required on the usual edit screen before saving your new plan.
