How to move / re-assign images from one patient to another?

Step 1: Locate the source patient

The source patient is the patient from whom we are moving the images. If the desired source patient is already archived, please follow these instructions to locate the archived patient.

  • Ensure you are on the source patient's record.

  • Navigate to the 'Cloud Gallery' and click on an image to open this in Dentally Vision.

💡 Top tip: For sites that are pre-conversion, we recommend merging patient images before converting your imaging data for a smoother and seamless transition.

Step 2: Reassign the images from the source patient

  • Click the 'Image' tab on the left to show the exam history.

  • Click on the three dots to the right of the exam you wish to reassign.

  • Select ‘Reassign exam’ from the drop-down list.

  • Enter the name of the patient you’d like to reassign the exam too.

  • A drop-down of the patients that match your search will display as you start to type.

📝 Please note: Make sure you select the correct patient here by checking the date of birth matches the destination patient you want to reassign the images too.

  • Select the patient making sure to pay attention to any information in the blue box.

  • Click 'Reassign Exam' and an “Are you sure….” Message appears.

  • Click 'Reassign', and the exam will be transferred to the destination patient's record.

Step 3: Complete patient merge (if required)

As stated in Step 1, in some scenarios, you may be reassigning images from a patient that has already been merged or archived in the past. If this is the case, you may not need to complete this step.
