How do I optimise my Patient Portal configuration?

Some tips for getting the most out of your Portal experience are:

  • Ensure your online booking set is optimised to make your booking process smooth for patients.

  • Turn on both medical history forms and NHS PR forms (if required).

  • Upon a patient's departure, send a copy of their treatment plans to the Portal for patients to review and sign as needed.

  • Chase lapsed patients through a campaign or patient list, by directing them straight to your online booking page, alongside educational messages to encourage patients back to the practice and to prioritise their oral health.

  • Practices with a treatment coordinator can create telephone appointments on their online booking page for those patients that wish to discuss their oral health journey before dedicating time to coming into the practice. This will help you cut down on wasted patient and staff time for the higher-end treatments you offer.

  • Maximise your diary management by utilising appointment zones to set aside specific time in the week for certain types of appointment, such as private/NHS.

  • You can set up deposits against bookable treatments online to help minimise failure to attend and keep revenue balanced.

  • Identify and chase your bad debtors by sending them a link directly to the Portal page where they can make payments against any outstanding balance.

  • Understand why optimising your set-up is important, and keep this at the forefront of your mind.
