Stripe is used to generate payment links within Dentally, as well as to take payments and deposits through your Dentally Portal.

Connecting Stripe

If you do not have a Stripe account, you will need to set one up before connecting this with Dentally. This can be done on Stripes website here.

Once you have set up your stripe account you can then proceed with connecting this to Denally;

  • Go to Settings > Sites > Online Payments

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to link with Stripe

Dentally Online Payment link add Stripe

Should you wish to update or disconnect your Stripe account from Dentally, you can navigate to the same location, Settings > Sites > Online Payments and simply choose the red Disconnect Stripe button on the left-hand side.

Once you have connected your account in the Dentally App ALL online payments, links and deposits will be taken through this stripe account.

Sending Payment Links

When sending payment links within Dentally, a unique link will be generated for the specified amount of money and can be sent to your patients via email or SMS.

When they click on the link they will then be directed to our payment screen where they can pay online using Stripe either by card or via Apple Pay/Google Pay. Learn more about how to send payment links here.

To be able to use payment links, you must have connected your stripe account within the Dentally app first.

Dentally Portal Payments and Deposits

Stripe is also used within Dentally Portal for deposit payments and outstanding balance payments. Dentally Portal will also use the account you have linked to your Dentally App.

If you are using Dentally Portal and happen to send a unique payment link from Dentally to a patient it will redirect them to their portal login page so they login to their account instead of showing them the generic secure payment screen.

This also gives patients the opportunity to fill in any outstanding forms and book any overdue check ups if required.

Top Tip - Sending payment links can be a super quick and easy way to get a patient's attention when they owe ou money and can be done in a few clicks directly from the patient's record!

Why do my Online Payments have no Provider associated?

Online payments and deposits will no longer hold a specific provider's initials against the payment line in the patient's accounts tab in Dentally. This is due to the payment not yet being associated with a providers work.

To ensure you are still paying your providers accurately, we recommend using our allocations report to figure out how much each practitioner is owed for the work they have carried out.

The Allocations report is NOT turned on by default for existing Dentally sites. If you do not see this report in your reports menu, please contact the Support team, who can enable this for you.

We recommend doing this at the end of one pay period and the beginning of a new one to ensure you have tied up any loose ends with your previous method of paying practitioners.

Want to connect an existing stripe account?

You wonโ€™t be able to connect two apps to the same Stripe account number due to Stripe's single Platform connection policy. This policy was introduced in 2021 and is contrary to advice you may have had from us previously.

To connect the same account in multiple places you can create individual Stripe account numbers under the same Stripe user login (an email address) and business details to connect to different platforms.

During the linking flow, Stripe automatically detects if you have an existing account that can be connected to the platform. Accounts that are already connected to a platform will be shown as ineligible.

Watch the video below or follow the steps underneath to see how to connect the same Stripe login in two places. ๐Ÿ‘‡
